Unlike many movie musical adaptations, Wicked does not include any original songs. Since debuting on Broadway in 2003, Wicked has been a musical hit, and remains one of Broadway’s longest-running shows. Loosely adapted from Gregory Maguire’s Wicked novel published in 1995, the music and lyrics are written by Stephen Schwartz, who has a cameo in the 2024 movie.
