AMD has downgraded a critical specification of its mobile Ryzen 7040 series processors ahead of their availability in laptops next month. Codenamed 'Phoenix,' the Ryzen 7040 CPUs are meant for thin and light gaming notebooks, and are part of the company's 2023 CPU lineup that also includes 'Raphael' for desktops and 'Dragon Range' for enthusiast gaming laptops. The new chips feature Zen 4 microarchitecture and include RDNA 3 integrated graphics. However, despite the promise of a high-performance iGPU, the latest development now suggests that potential buyers could be disappointed with an unwanted change in the spec sheet.
