The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Paul Giamatti has explained why he had to back out of starring in the Twin Peaks revival Twin Peaks: The Return. The Return, which was co-created, co-written, and directed by David Lynch for Showtime in 2017, was a follow-up to the surreal mystery show Twin Peaks, which aired between 1990 and 1991 on ABC, followed by the 1992 prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. The star-studded cast of The Return featured returning performers including Kyle MacLachlan and Mädchen Amick, as well as newcomers including Laura Dern, Amanda Seyfried, Matthew Lillard, and Naomi Watts.
