Watch Antonio Banderas as the Wicked Herod Singing ‘Good to Be King’ in ‘Journey to Bethlehem’ Film: Exclusive

Academy Award nominee Antonio Banderas is a singing villain in Journey to Bethlehem, a Christmas musical adventure about the Nativity story in which he plays Herod, King of Judea. In theaters since Nov. 10, the movie is also available at home starting Friday (Dec. 8), just in time for Christmas.

Directed by Glee executive music producer Adam Anders and co-written by Anders and Peter Barsocchini, Journey to Bethlehem also stars Fiona Palomo as Mary and Milo Manheim as Joseph, as well as Lecrae as the angel Gabriel and Joel Smallbone as Antipater. It weaves classic Christmas melodies with humor, faith and new pop songs in the retelling of the birth of Jesus.

One song that stands out is the rollicking “Good to Be King,” performed by Banderas as the callous, jealous Herod, who appears storming out of the palace while singing “Mine is the kingdom, mine is the power” with a mix of grandeur and insecurity. You can watch a clip of the scene above, exclusively on Billboard.

Appropriate for the whole family, Journey to Bethlehem was produced by Sony Pictures’ Affirm Films and Monarch Media and it’s arriving to other markets in the coming days, including Spanish-speaking countries like Mexico, Argentina and Spain under the title Camino a Belén.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch it, you can buy it or rent it now, or still catch it in theaters. In the meantime, watch the trailer below, and enjoy Banderas’ majestic performance above.
