Despite the major role of the regional Mexican genre in the surge of Latin music in 2024, Bad Bunny has lined up a sixth round as Billboard‘s Top Latin Artist of the year, with songs and albums that have contributed to the overall rising share of global streaming. The Puerto Rican also becomes the only Latin artist to finish in the top 20 on the overall all-genre Top Artists chart, while he leads the Top Latin Artist-Male recap for a sixth consecutive year. During the 2024 chart year (charts dated Oct. 28, 2023, through Oct. 19, 2024) he placed 25 titles on the Hot Latin Songs chart and six titles on the Top Latin Albums ranking.
Meanwhile, Karol G is the only woman among the top 10 on the year-end Top Latin Artists recap (at No. 4), thanks to the bombastic success in the 2024 chart year of her last two albums — Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) and Mañana Será Bonito — along with 2021’s KG0516. (The 2024 eligibility period ran from the charts dated Oct. 28, 2023, through Oct. 19, 2024.) The Colombian artist winds up as the Top Female Latin Artist for a sixth straight year thanks to the continued chart performance on the weekly Top Latin Albums chart of the three aforementioned albums, in addition to nine charting titles on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

In 2023, Bichota Season arrived at No. 1 on Top Latin Albums just five-and-a-half months after Mañana Será Bonito. That gap between the two Mañana albums hitting No. 1 became the shortest span between new No. 1s for a living woman on Top Latin Albums.
Karol G stepped into tropical territory with her merengue hit “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” which dominated Hot Latin Songs for 14 weeks (13 of those in the 2024 chart year).
Billboard’s year-end music recaps represent aggregated metrics for each artist, title, label and music contributor on the weekly charts dated Oct. 28, 2023, through Oct. 19, 2024. The rankings for Luminate-based recaps reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on a respective chart during the tracking year. Any activity registered before or after a title’s chart run isn’t considered in these rankings. That methodology details, and the October-October time period, account for some of the difference between these lists and the calendar-year recaps that are independently compiled by Luminate.
Bad Bunny Blasts Into Another Orbit: Benito becomes the year-end Top Latin Artists chart’s most-frequent topper, adding to his staggering total a sixth career No. 1. He repeats with the Top Latin Album for a sixth consecutive year with his fifth studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana.
The set debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200, Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums charts on the Oct. 28, 2023-dated tally, the first week of the 2024 chart year. The album became the fourth all-Spanish album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (behind his previous two projects), while Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito became the third in March 2023.
In its first week, Nadie Sabe also registered the second-largest streaming week ever for a Latin music album (after his own Un Verano Sin Ti in 2022).
On a song level, Bad Bunny simultaneously charted 24 songs on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. tallies in its first week, the second-most after his own 27 concurrent songs from Un Verano Sin Ti (throughout various weeks in 2022). Plus, Nadie Sabe matched its predecessor, with 22 simultaneous debuts on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 on its opening week, the most in a week for a core Latin music artist and most in a week performed all in Spanish. Further, Benito placed 10 simultaneous entries in the Hot Latin Songs chart’s top 10 (dated Oct. 28) –the most overall.
FloyyMennor & Cris Mj “Were Able to Take ‘Gata Only’ to a Global Level”: Chileans FloyyMenor and Cris Mj enjoyed one of the biggest breakthrough moments of the year thanks to their first team-up, “Gata Only,” which topped Hot Latin Songs for 14 weeks during the eligibility period.
“Gata Only” wraps at No. 1 on the year-end Hot Latin Songs roundup. It’s the only song by two Chileans in the top 10, a list dominated by Regional Mexican artists in addition to Bad Bunny and Karol G.
FloyyMenor and Cris Mj also became the first Chileans to successfully make TikTok teasing a major part of their promotional campaign, where the song generated over 3 million user videos when it landed at the summit of Hot Latin Songs in April. For artists with little established chart history, “Gata Only” turned FloyyMenor and Cris Mj into the only Latin artists with a top five-charting hit on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart in 2024.
Fuerza Regida & Peso Pluma Sustained Sizable Gains: While the top male and female acts stem from the Latin rhythmic genre, regional Mexican stars Fuerza Regida and Peso Pluma, the stalwarts who gave a valuable boost to the Regional Mexican genre, close as the Nos. 2 and 3 Top Latin Artists of the year, respectively.
Fuera Regida finishes as the Top Latin Artists – Duo/Group bolstered by the success of their steady stream of music throughout the year. Thanks to its experimental take on music where jersey corridos, reggaetón and EDM-peppered songs all share a space, Fuerza Regida has captured the attention of international audiences and has played a key role in the surge of Regional Mexican music. (The group looms so large, they are also the overall all-genre Top Artist – Duo/Group for a second year in a row.)
Throughout the year-end tracking period (Oct. 28, 2023-Oct. 19, 2024), the group placed 28 songs on the Hot Latin Songs chart, the second-most overall, only behind Peso Pluma who helmed with an impressive 47 songs. A key driver of the growth of regional Mexican music, Peso Pluma propelled the genre’s presence on the global stage, now the leading Latin subgenre in the U.S., according to Luminate.
His album Génesis, the No. 1 album on the year-end Regional Mexican Albums chart for a second consecutive year, where the set remained in the weekly top three of the Regional Mexican Albums chart for all 52 weeks of the chart year.
It also claimed 28 total weeks at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart, the most for a regional Mexican album in the history of the 30-year-old tally. Of those 28 weeks, 13 came during the 2024 year-end tracking period. He placed a second album at the summit of both Regional Mexcian Albums and Top Latin Albums: Éxodo, with 12 weeks at No. 1 on both tallies during the eligibility period.
Fuerza Regida also scored a striking three top 10 albums in a four-month span on Top Latin Albums during the 2024 chart year, including the three-week champ, Pa’ Las Baby’s y Belikeada, which earned the group a Billboard Latin Music award for Regional Mexican Album of the year.
Xavi Arrives: Aside from superstars Karol G and Bad Bunny, newcomer Xavi is the only other artist with two songs in the top 10 on the year-end Hot Latin Songs chart: “La Diabla” (No. 2) and “La Víctima” (No. 10). The Mexican American, who made impact on TikTok in late December 2023, achieves the No. 1 rank on the Top New Latin Artists year-end ranking.
The 19-year-old, who won fans over with his high range of vocal chords and personal lyrics, captures the top spot thanks to eight total entries on Hot Latin Songs, including the 14-week ruler “La Diabla,” the longest-leading No. 1 by a regional Mexican soloist. (Xavi’s first entry on Top Latin Albums, Next, didn’t bow on the chart until the list dated Oct. 26, 2024, which was the first week of the 2025 chart year.)
