The Animal Crossing series has seen features come and go with varying degrees of success. New Leaf‘s town square was a fresh new way to approach the game’s charming shopping systems, and putting the power in the players’ hands with the placement of its stores came with even more responsibility (as though managing an entire island wasn’t responsibility enough). The series might stay the same in many respects, but it needs to keep things fresh every time it reappears on the market.
