The Originals was the first spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, but the first vampires played a major role on that show before they took center stage on their own series. When the Mikaelson siblings were introduced on The Vampire Diaries, they were a menacing presence, and for years one of the major goals of Elena, Stefan, Damon, and the rest was to bring an end to the Originals, especially Klaus.
