The Nun 2's first reactions suggest that the movie is an Annabelle: Creation-style improvement on the first movie. The new Conjuring Universe movie is a sequel to 2018's The Nun, a horror movie prequel spinning off Bonnie Aarons' demonic nun character Valak, who first appeared in 2016's The Conjuring 2. The new movie features the return of Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga), now a full-fledged nun, as the demonic presence unleashes itself in a French boarding school, having emerged after possessing Irene's old companion Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet).
