While Terrifier 2 won over critics and fans alike, Terrifier 3 runs the risk of repeating the sequel's biggest problem thanks to a much larger budget. Both 2016’s slasher throwback Terrifier and its gorier, more ambitious 2022 sequel Terrifier 2 are impressive testaments to the power of low-budget filmmaking. Terrifier cost a mere $35,000, but the movie managed to replicate the gritty visual aesthetic and the dark tone of ‘80s midnight movies nonetheless. Terrifier 2 was made for $250,000 which, while far larger than the original movie’s budget, is still a much smaller price tag than even the most modest indie movies typically require.
