Sue Sue in the City was a planned spinoff of the ABC sitcom, The Middle. The Middle is a highly underrated TV series that ran for nine seasons between 2009 and 2018 and centers on the Heck family: mother Frances "Frankie" (Patricia Heaton), eldest son Axl (Charlie McDermott), youngest son Brick (Atticus Shaffer), middle daughter Sue (Eden Sher), and father Mike Jr. played by the underrated actor Neil Flynn appearing post-Scrubs. Set in the fictional town of Orson, Indiana, the Hecks are a lower middle class family facing the daily struggles that come with work, school, and relationships.
