The movie still follows Jack Blacks Po, the unlikely Dragon Warrior, but introduces the character of Zhen, a corsac fox, who teams up with the panda on a quest to discover why villains from the past seem to have reappeared. At the same time, Po is tasked with finding a new hero to take over the mantle of Dragon Warrior.
