2024 was a big year for PlayStation 5 when it came to remastering older games, but even with them, there weren’t nearly as many groundbreaking original projects. While the massive success of Astro Bot was a huge win for Sony, even going on to win Game of the Year, Astro Bot showed a clear demand for original games over recent remaster projects. While there’s still plenty of financial incentive for PlayStation to continue its current remastering strategy, it’s far from the winning model the company is known for.
