Prince Royce & Gabito Ballesteros Light Up the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards With ‘Cosas de la Peda’

Prince Royce and Gabito Ballesteros took center stage at the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards to perform “Cosas de la Peda,” their first collaborative effort, which took them to the top of Billboard‘s Tropical Airplay chart earlier this year.

The track, a fusion of bachata and corridos tumbados, is part of Prince Royce’s album Llamada Perdida, and is up for Tropical Song of the Year. It’s the first time Prince Royce and Ballesteros have performed “Cosas de la Peda,” and they did so with a full band in tow, which included trombones, acoustic and electric guitars and a tololoche. Wearing steampunk-inspired outfits, the pair danced to the rhythm of bachata, the style that mainly powers the hip-swiveling track.

“He sent me the song and I added some parts to it and now we are nominated, thank God,” Ballesteros told Billboard before taking the stage, explaining how the collaboration came about. “And it’s good that they gave us this space to present it here.”

The 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards, hosted by actors Carmen Villalobos and Danilo Carrera, celebrates the most outstanding talent in Latin music. This year’s edition brings together an all-star lineup spanning a variety of genres and generations. Among the performers this year were J Balvin, Chencho Corleone, Fuerza Regida, Gloria Trevi, Xavi, Grupo Niche, Pepe Aguilar, Prince Royce, Proyecto Uno, Yandel and Maria Becerra.

This year, the list of finalists is led by Karol G, who has 17 mentions in key categories such as Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, and Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year. Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma follow closely behind with 15 mentions each. (See the complete list of finalists here.)
