The superhero boom in Hollywood created by the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Dark Knight trilogy brought increased interest to comic book adaptations. Since Big Hero 6 is based on a Marvel comic concept, it appeared that Disney would launch an animated superhero movie franchise with the release.
