The First Order of the Star Wars sequel era is, by its very nature, not an original concept, and there's no better example of that than Starkiller Base. The authoritarian regime that arose in the decades following the Battle of Endor was founded by remnants of the Galactic Empire and is generally seen as a "rebirth" or continuation of the former government. Even the aesthetic of the First Order echoes the Empire, down to the white armor-clad stormtroopers, TIE fighters, and Star Destroyers. However, the irony of it being little more than an obvious carbon copy of the Empire is lost on General Hux.
