Red Dead Redemption 2 is widely revered as one of the most engaging and enveloping open-world experiences out there, but not every aspect of the game helps sell the immersion of the world. Although developer Rockstar Games isn't generally prone to imposing arbitrary limitations, with the Grand Theft Auto series representing a gold standard for chaotic and amoral player freedom, Red Dead Redemption 2 does have slightly higher storytelling ideals than the no-holds-barred satire of GTA. A well-chosen sacrifice can be worthwhile, and it's easy to see the logic behind one restrictive decision in Red Dead Redemption 2's development.
