Stephen King‘s Carrie has been out for 50 years now, but there’s still something about the author’s first novel that doesn’t sit right with me. King published Carrie back in 1974, and the book catapulted the author’s writing career. Needless to say, Carrie holds a special place in the hearts of diehard King fans. And it really is a great novel, with themes that still hold up half a century later. However, the depiction of Carrie‘s title character has always unsettled me, and I can’t decide whether that’s a good thing or not.
