A deleted scene from 1994's The Crow explains a detail about the title character that has often puzzled fans. The '90s was famously a mixed era for comic book movies, and for every hit like Batman Returns, there was a major dud like Steel. One of the most acclaimed comic book films of this period was The Crow, which adapted the cult graphic novel by James O'Barr. The movie starred Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, a musician who is murdered alongside his girlfriend, but who returns to life a year later to exact supernatural revenge on their killers with the aid of a mysterious crow.Lee was tragically killed during production of the movie, which was later completed with a mixture of CGI and body doubles. The Crow was a success upon release and has since become a cult favorite in its own right thanks to Lee's performance, the visuals, the action sequences and much more. Lee's gothic styling is another element that has made the character an icon, from his facial makeup to his all-black ensemble. Time will tell of the somewhat controversial Crow remake will prove to be as well received.
