Even though it has been six years since the sitcom wrapped up, New Girl remains a show with lasting popularity and mass appeal, and that's thanks to it shifting away from its original premise. New Girl first aired on Fox in 2011 and introduced audiences to Zooey Deschanel's character, Jess. Jess is shown to be a bubbly teacher who learns that her boyfriend is cheating on her, leading her to move out and into a loft with three complete strangers. Despite their unfamiliarity with one another, the group manages to become incredibly tight-knit and help each other learn and grow.
