Zack Snyder's Man of Steel features numerous controversial elements, but one in particular has much more context and clarity after a decade. In Man of Steel, a young man with superpowers named Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) learns that he is actually an alien refugee named Kal-El from the planet Krypton. Despite spending most of his life hiding his abilities from the world, Clark is forced to defend Earth as Superman when General Zod (Michael Shannon) leads a Kryptonian invasion to remake Earth into a new Krypton.
