Fresh off the heels of Timothée Chalamet channeling Bob Dylan on the red carpet, fans can now also dress like the legendary artist, thanks to a new vintage-inspired Levi’s collection. In celebration of the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown, starring Chalamet, Levi’s recreates Dylan’s signature style with a capsule collection inspired by vintage pieces that the singer actually wore back in the 1960s.
The film, directed by James Mangold, chronicles the life of a young Bob Dylan during his rise in New York’s West Village folk scene decades ago. To faithfully recreate the singer’s iconic look, Levi’s teamed up with the film’s costume designer, Arianna Phillips, on three signature pieces to bring the Dylan’s wardrobe to life.
At the heart of the collaboration is a pair of classic 501 jeans with a unique spin. Paying homage to Dylan’s ex-girlfriend, Suze Rotolo, who customized pairs of Levi’s denim with a bootcut insert to accommodate the singer’s boots, this new release will offer the same bespoke style. The collection also includes a recreation of Dylan’s signature “D” belt that he was known for wearing, and a vintage suede jacket.
Each item comes with special tributes to the film and singer including a hidden typed note in the jeans watch pocket that reads “I’ll let you be in my dreams, if I can be in yours” – an early Dylan song lyric from “Talkin’ World War III Blues.”
The Levi’s x A Complete Unknown collection is available to buy on Levi’s website now, coinciding with the film’s U.S. release on Christmas Day.
