One of the central conflicts in Bradly Cooper's Maestro pertains to Leonard Bernstein's persistent sexual relationships outside of his marriage with Felicia Montealegre. What's more, his various sexual escapades involved affairs with both women and men despite the fact that Bernstein denied the fact that he was gay or bisexual throughout the course of his life. While Maestro focuses intently on some of the highlights and achievements of Bernstein's career as a prolific composer and conductor, the film doesn't dive too deeply into his real-life frequent pursuit of sexual partners and his denial of his identity as a gay or bisexual man.
