Lady Gaga Is ‘So Incredibly Grateful’ as Bruno Mars Duet ‘Die With a Smile’ Hits No. 1 on the Hot 100

Lady Gaga is having an excellent start to 2025, with the pop star’s Bruno Mars duet “Die With a Smile” reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week — something she thanked fans for in a heartfelt TikTok posted Tuesday (Jan. 7).

Holding up her camera so that she could speak directly to fans, Gaga began the video by saying, “I am so incredibly grateful that my song ‘Die With a Smile’ with Bruno Mars, my friend, is No. 1 on the Hot 100.”

“I can’t believe I’ve had two No. 1s in three different decades that I’ve been releasing my music in this profession,” the 13-time Grammy winner continued. “I’m so honored to be an artist and to have had your ears for this long. Thank you for listening and dancing and making your art along with mine.”

The ascension of “Die With a Smile” to the Hot 100’s summit comes a full five months after the two pop-music titans dropped the duet Aug. 16. The track soon reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, where it proceeded to spend eight weeks in the top spot.

With “Die With a Smile” now at the top, Gaga’s Hot 100 No. 1 count is up to six. As she mentioned in her video, the A Star Is Born actress has now had two chart-toppers in three different decades — the ’00s, ’10s and ’20s — something only Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson had achieved prior.

“I’m so grateful,” Gaga gushed in her video, smiling. “It’s 2025 and I have a No. 1 song — it’s pretty wild.”

Up next for the vocalist is the release of her seventh studio album, which will feature “Die With a Smile” on the tracklist. Led by single “Disease,” which dropped in October, the highly anticipated LP is expected to arrive in February.

“I’m so excited that this song is on my new album,” the star concluded her TikTok. “I’m so excited for you to hear what more I have in store for you.”
