Keith Urban to Serve as Mega Mentor on ‘The Voice’

Keith Urban is set to serve as a mega mentor on season 25 of NBC’s The Voice. The two-time CMA entertainer of the year winner will join a country music-heavy lineup of leaders on the show, including coaches Reba McEntire and Dan+Shay, in addition to fellow coaches John Legend and Chance the Rapper.

Urban will mentor the remaining artists who survive the Battle Rounds, as each team prepares for the Knockout Rounds starting April 8. During those rounds, artists are paired against a teammate, but they select their own song to perform individually while their competitor watches. Urban will offer up insights, advice and encouragement to the artists, alongside the coaches, to elevate the contestants’ performances. Coaches alone choose the winner from their team to advance to the playoffs, the last round before the live shows. Each coach has one steal in the Knockout Rounds.

Four-time Grammy winner Urban is slated to release a new album this year, which will include the songs “Straight Line” and “Messed Up As Me.” Of course, the country star himself is no stranger to musical competitions, having served as a coach on the Australian version of The Voice, as well as a judge on American Idol.

On the March 12 episode of The Voice, a round of Blind Auditions added to each coach’s team of artists, with Val T. Webb joining Chance the Rapper’s team, Kyle Schuesler joining Dan+Shay’s team, L. Rodgers joining McEntire’s team and Olivia Rubini joining Legend’s team.

The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. and and this coming Tuesday at 9 p.m. on NBC, and the following day on Peacock.
