Kaytranada is ushering everyone outside this summer with his new album Timeless, which dropped Friday (June 7) via RCA Records.
The 17-track LP includes the previously released singles “Lover/Friend” (featuring Rochelle Jordan, who’s featured on another song called “Spit It Out”) and the Channel Tres-assisted “Drip Sweat” as well as other star-studded collaborations with his brother Lou Phelps, Don Toliver, Charlotte Day Wilson, Dawn Richard, Tinashe, Anderson .Paak, Childish Gambino and more. Timeless will also feature four bonus tracks with Thundercat, PinkPantheress, Mariah the Scientist and Channel Tres (“Stuntin”).
Timeless arrives five years after the Haitian-Canadian DJ/producer’s sophomore album, Bubba, which won best dance/electronic album at the 2021 Grammy Awards, making him the first Black producer and the first openly gay producer to win in the category since it launched in 2004. Its Kali Uchis-assisted standout hit “10%” won best dance recording. Bubba also reached No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums.
Kaytranada also teamed up with Aminé last year for their first-ever collaborative album Kaytraminé, which reached No. 41 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 92 on the Billboard 200. It featured collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Big Sean, Amaarae and Freddie Gibbs.
“I just want to be remembered as one of the greats in terms of producing, not only dance and electronic but also just production in general,” Kaytranada told Billboard in his cover story last year. “It’s a matter of longevity, too — and, you know, just happiness. Like, as long as you’re comfortable and you’re happy with your life, that’s a form of success — but don’t forget the money part.”
