English actor Jason Isaacs played Captain Gabriel Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery season 1. In a departure from Star Trek‘s typical format of having the hero starship’s captain as the show’s main character, Lorca was a foil to protagonist Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), and eventually revealed to be Star Trek: Discovery‘s season 1 villain. The original Captain of the USS Discovery, Lorca was a fugitive from Star Trek‘s Mirror Universe who plotted a coup against Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) before becoming conveniently stranded in the Prime Universe and adopting his Prime counterpart’s identity.
