During the round of announcements that James Gunn revealed for the new slate of the DC Universe movies and television series saw some of the most famous characters in the DC pantheon return to the big screen once again, including Swamp Thing and Supergirl.
The last Supergirl film was in the 1980’s following the success of Christopher Reeves’ Superman movies starring Helen Slater (who went on to voice other DC characters like Talia al-Ghul on Batman: The Animated Series).

This film will be based on the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comics run of the same title from 2021 and 2022. Woman of Tomorrow featured Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. Gunn’s plan is to turn that limited series into a “big, science-fiction, epic film.”
