A recent petition begs fan support for the release of a four-hour cut of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but does such a version of the prequel film really exist? The movie, based on the novel by Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins, hit theaters on November 17, 2023, with a runtime of 2 hours and 38 minutes, making it the longest of the five Lionsgate films set in Panem. Even at this length, however, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes could not capture the entirety of what had been included in the book, and with rumors that director Francis Lawrence cut more than an hour from the original version, die-hard fans are eager to see more.
