While How I Met Your Mother’s antihero Barney did some terrible things, there is an argument to be made that the show’s myopic narrator might have been exaggerating his misdeeds. Although How I Met Your Mother felt like a relatively average multi-camera hang-out sitcom thanks to the show’s laugh track, the eponymous gimmick made the series unique. Since Ted Mosby, the main character of How I Met Your Mother, narrated the show’s plot, his perspective sometimes subtly colored the series' events. At times, this would be obvious, with Ted’s narration adding cartoonish special effects to illustrate a potential paramour’s “crazy eyes.”
