In 2006, NBC launched Heroes, an ambitious attempt to take comic book superheroes and adapt them into a primetime TV drama that the average person could relate to, and recaps of the Heroes story illuminate the show's many plot twists. At first, Heroes seemed like it was spinning a brand new superhero mythology that could stand toe-to-toe with Marvel or DC Comics, but as the seasons (or "volumes") kept coming, the dream of seeing Heroes become a new icon in superhero mythology slowly cracked, ultimately crumbling with a final lackluster installment before its 2015 renewal with Heroes Reborn.
