The upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy spin-off series Groot will debut Yondu's ancestor, Yondar. In the original iteration of Guardians of the Galaxy, Yondu was conceived as one of the team's founding members, the last warrior survivor of his species in the early 3000s. Following Michael Rooker's highly praised depiction of the character as a space pirate in the movie adaptations, Marvel introduced an ancestor of its original Yondu with the same name in the present day, having the future Yondu pass on his iconic arrow thanks to a time travel-based adventure. Now, their family is getting even bigger.
