Dressed all in black with a red backdrop, Fuerza Regida displayed their street mob style, bringing a captivating edge to the stage at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2024. They fused elements of traditional Mexican music with the bold aesthetic of a rap ensemble, and a dash of reggaetón.
The band, originating from San Bernardino, boasts powerhouse talents — frontman JOP, twelve-string guitarist Samuel Jáimez, rhythm guitarist Khrystian Ramos, sousaphone player José “Pelón” García, and tololoche player Moisés López — each bringing their own flair to the group.
They opened with “Tu Name,” a no-holds-barred corridos suited for anyone ready to move past a former relationship. Delivering the song with raw emotion and fervor, JOP narrated tales of embracing wild nights and forging new encounters.
The set took an electrifying turn as they moved on to “Nel” from their latest album Pero No Te Enamores. JOP commenced with compelling vocals that ascended into a captivating crescendo, before merging pulsating Jersey club beats with hearty reggaetón. Amid their performance, a crew of four female dancers joined rocking red latex, encircling JOP.
Earlier that evening, Fuerza received the award for “Hot Latin Songs” artist of the year, duo or group. Both “Nel” and “Tu Name” stormed the Hot Latin Songs chart, peaking at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, with the latter hit also breaking into the Hot 100 at No. 91. They received a total of nine nods.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards 2024 also featured performances by J Balvin, Grupo Niche, Pepe Aguilar, Gloria Trevi, Maria Becerra, Xavi, Chencho Corleone, Prince Royce, Gabito Ballesteros, Proyecto Uno, and more.
