During the 30th anniversary NIS stream, the company announced two new titles. First, Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless, which adds samurai and catgirls with laser guns to its hellish SRPG formula. Second, Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles, which brings two classic JRPGs to North America and Europe for the first time.
Disgaea 7 is set in the netherworld Hinomoto, inspired by historical Japan. The game follows the demon warrior Fuji and his companion Pirilika, a catgirl with a gun. Among the more than 40 character classes are also a boxing witch and a gun-touting samurai.
It introduces a variety of new mechanics like Jumbability, which increases characters to a massive size so they can deal massive damage. Item reincarnation lets players level up their items by turning them into something else. A favorite axe could become a stack of pancakes, for example. Players can also test their skills against AI or other players in online multiplayer. The strategy RPG is set to release during Summer 2023 in Europe, and Fall 2023 in North America. It will be available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
