Denzel Washington is one of the most revered working actors today. Recent retirement rumors dismayed audiences, but those claims were quickly shot down when Washington assured audiences that he was here to stay, at least for projects that he was really passionate about. If he had retired, Washington would have been ending a decades-long career that started in the late 1970s. Washington’s performances received critical acclaim from early on, getting his first Oscar nomination for 1987’s Cry Freedom. Since then, he has gone on to win two Oscars for his acting, in Glory and Training Day.
