Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish & More LGBTQ Artists Prevail With 2025 Grammy Nominations

It’s been a hectic week in the U.S., one defined by confusion and fear after Donald Trump emerged victorious in the 2024 presidential election. But at the end of a difficult week, music fans had something to look forward to — the long-awaited nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards.

On Friday (Nov. 8), the Recording Academy unveiled the complete list of nominees for the 67th annual Grammy Awards, set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. With a stunning 11 nominations, Beyoncé not only became the most-nominated artist this year, but the most nominated artist in the history of the ceremony with 99 total nods throughout her career, breaking her tie with husband Jay-Z’s 88 nominations. Just behind the Cowboy Carter superstar are Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone, each earning seven nominations at the ceremony.

As with every Grammy ceremony, this year’s awards came with their own set of surprises — many didn’t expect André 3000’s experimental flute album to earn an album of the year nod, yet the former Outkast member joined artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift in the coveted category. Meanwhile, where many expected Hozier to earn his second-ever Grammy nomination after “Too Sweet” took off in 2024, the Irish singer-songwriter wasn’t recognized in any category this year.

Among those snubs and surprises, how did LGBTQ+ artists fare in this year’s nominations? Below, Billboard breaks down the biggest highlights for queer artists in the 2025 Grammy nominations, from Eilish’s ongoing status as an Academy favorite to Chappell Roan storming the Big Four categories.
