Making casting more interesting is that there are two popular versions of Nova, the space-fairing member of the Nova Corps. Richard Rider is the earlier version, the last surviving member of the Nova Corps in Marvel Comics. He's eventually succeeded by Sam Alexander, a much younger hero who mixes space-fairing adventures with time on Earth.
