Disney and A24 are both no match for the combined might of Barbie and Oppenheimer. The two movies have been the subject of much attention for months, due to their fierce competition. Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer tells the dark and dramatic story of the Manhattan Project's director J. Robert Oppenheimer, while Greta Gerwig's Barbie focuses on challenging the patriarchy with the help of some childhood toys. They were scheduled to face steep competition from Disney's Haunted Mansion and A24's Talk to Me, but their box office results barely skipped a beat.
