A Euphoria cameo in The Idol episode 1 has fans certain the two shows are set in the same universe. Son of the Academy Award-winning director Barry Levinson, Sam Levinson burst onto the scene by creating the HBO teen drama Euphoria, which stars the Emmy-winning Zendaya as a recovering drug addict. In between seasons of Euphoria, Levinson co-created another relentlessly explicit HBO show, The Idol, which stars Lily Rose-Depp as a pop star named Jocelyn who develops a complex relationship with a cult leader and nightclub owner played by The Weeknd.
