Although Alien: Romulus’s sequel plan might not arrive for a while yet, the reboot’s follow-up has already avoided the main issue that derailed director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus follow-up. 2012’s Prometheus had a lot of plot holes, but this did not stop viewers from wanting a follow-up to the Alien prequel. If anything, the loose plot threads of Prometheus made the prospect of a sequel all the more appealing, since this would grant the franchise a chance to clarify some story elements that never quite added up. However, 2017’s Alien: Covenant failed to provide this much-needed clarity.
