Assassin's Creed Mirage may not hit store shelves until later this year, but it already looks like a better representation of history than Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Releasing several years after the franchise's Viking venture, Mirage takes Assassin's Creed to Baghdad in the ninth century. Many fans are anticipating Mirage as a potential return to form thanks to its refocused gameplay, abandoning the enormous open-world settings of recent games for a focus on a singular city. Considering the important role that real-world settings and events play in the fictional series, however, it may be a shift in historical accuracy that truly makes the game shine.
