Even though Twisted Metal takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, the cast and crew of the action comedy series filmed on location for most of the scenes. The 2023 Peacock television show is based on the popular video game series of the same name, which features a demolition derby tournament called, "Twisted Metal," where contestants use weapons and whatever means necessary to kill their opponents and be the last person (and vehicle) standing in the arena. However, the first season of the television adaptation didn't focus too much on the tournament and instead highlighted one of the video game's significant characters — John Doe, played by Anthony Mackie.
