Destiny 2’s Witch Queen era officially comes to an end on February 28, as the game begins the next chapter in its Light and Darkness saga with the arrival of its Lightfall expansion. Like previous expansions, Bungie will be prepping the game for an influx of new content, tweaks, and changes to the core experience, so get ready for some downtime.
According to the studio, Destiny 2 will be brought offline for 24 hours starting at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET on February 27, 2023. You’ll have until then to wrap up any lingering seasonal objectives as Season of the Seraph comes to an end, as once the downtime begins, you won’t be able to play Destiny 2 until the servers are back online.
The developer is warning that the download file for Destiny 2 will be quite large, but the game will have a smaller footprint on your SSD and you’ll see improved loading times as well. During this time, preloading for Lightfall will be available.
