Two of the stars from A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge want to return for another film in the horror franchise. After the booming success of Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, New Line Cinema immediately started work on a sequel. Freddy’s Revenge, despite being a commercial success, received mixed to negative reviews upon release, partly because of the Elm Street sequel's obvious homoerotic subtext. In recent years, however, the film has become a bit of a cult classic in the horror and LGBTQ+ communities.
