Dead City Leans Hard Into Glenn’s Death To Sell Its Maggie vs Negan Plot

Warning: spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City episode 1The Walking Dead: Dead City is making Glenn's death a core theme as Maggie is forced to work alongside former foe Negan. Few TV shows had a schism in their viewership thanks to a single TV episode quite like The Walking Dead. Season 6 teased the arrival of Negan, the leader of the Saviors, whose character's infamous comic introduction saw him beat fan favorite Glenn to death with a baseball bat as the other survivors were forced to watch. Season 7's premiere episode made a meal of this long-awaited moment, with audiences witnessing the gruesome deaths of both Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun).
