Netflix‘s new Western series has become a global success. Producing original movies and TV shows since the early 2010s, the streaming service’s catalog of Western content now offers a diverse range of stories exploring the rugged charm of the American frontier. Longmire was A&E’s highest-rated original drama before Netflix picked it up in 2014, starting with season four, and releasing the sixth and final season in 2017. Around that same time, the Western miniseries Godless was also released on Netflix to rave reviews.
