Lin-Manuel Miranda Candidly Reflects On Hamilton Movie Chances After Wicked’s Lengthy Development Process

Lin-Manuel Miranda shares his hesitations about turning Hamilton into a live-action movie. The Broadway musical, which debuted in 2015, revolutionized musical theater by combining the story of one of America’s Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton, with hip-hop. The musical won numerous prestigious awards, including a Pulitzer Prize and eleven Tony Awards. In 2020, a filmed stage version was released on Disney+, giving global audiences a chance to experience the show from home. Despite Hamilton‘s success, though, Miranda remains cautious about translating his beloved stage production into a live-action film.
