Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and The Garfield Movie are vying for dominance at the domestic box office during an underwhelming Memorial Day holiday weekend. Garfield, which stars Chris Pratt as the voice of the titular cat, is a new animated movie that already opened in international theaters at the beginning of May and earned more than $45 million overseas before opening in the U.S. In contrast, the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga release kicked off its worldwide run this weekend, bringing the prequel to theaters nine years after the release of the previous installment, Fury Road.
