In contrast to The Lord of the Rings, many fans consider Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy as a sub-par addition to the franchise. The Hobbit trilogy, on the other hand, didn’t live up to either the LotR movies or the source material in the eyes of many. They weren’t necessarily bad, but they failed to capture much of what made Lord of the Rings so timeless.
