Following the success of season 1, Apple TV+ renewed Schmigadoon! for season 2 with a twist. Rather than parodying the musicals of the Golden Age, season 2 moved to the darker musicals of the 60s and 70s. Schmigadoon! season 2 parodied a number of musicals, including Hair, Pippin, Cabaret, Chicago, Sweeney Todd, and more, as Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) found themselves in Schmicago.
