SZA Slices Her Way Through Triumphant ‘Kill Bill’ & ‘Snooze’ at 2024 Grammys

As the most nominated artist at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, SZA triumphantly took the stage and delivered her SOS smashes “Snooze” and “Kill Bill,” complete with fire, swordplay, choreography and (of course) the pinpoint vocals that have brought her storytelling to life during her ascent to superstardom.

SZA began her Grammys performance in a black trench coat and oversized hat, presenting “Snooze” behind a microphone stand and alongside a literal dumpster fire. Yet midway through the performance, the stationary set gained momentum — right around the time a martial artist climbed on a table in front of a delighted Phoebe Bridgers in the audience, showed off some sword moves, and “Kill Bill” kicked off in earnest.

Soon, SZA had shed the coat and hat, and was leading a slew of dancers and prowling across the Grammys stage as the arena audience cheered her on. The performance ended with SZA physically dropping an ex, and a red banner draped around her outstretched arm.

“This has been a year to remember for SZA,” Grammys host Trevor Noah declared ahead of the R&B superstar’s performance on Sunday night (Feb. 4) at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. That was an understatement: sophomore album SOS became the first No. 1 album of SZA’s career upon its December 2022 release, and “Kill Bill” her first Hot 100 chart-topper, yielding an arena headlining performance and universal acclaim.

SZA entered the evening with nine Grammy nominations, the most of any artist. She has already won two awards on Sunday night — for best progressive R&B album, and best pop duo/group performance, the latter for “Ghost in the Machine” with Bridgers — and is nominated for album of the year, song of the year and record of the year, among other awards.
